4 months ago, every exchange student might wonder how it would feel to be an exchange student,  what you would face, what you would learn, what you would become and many other questions that I kept asking myself. Some of the questions might have already been answered, some might not, but that might be the reason why you are here, the reason why you chose to become an exchange student - to discover the meaning of being an exchange student. And that is what I kept asking myself prior to becoming an exchange student in the Republic of China.
After four months, I have found everything here beyond my expectation. The school offered me a great relaxing atmosphere; I loved wandering and pondering in the school on my lonesome. Also, I am grateful to my host family who were extremely helpful in spite of their busy work. And my friends were nice to me. Much of my Chinese is thanks to them. I had such a good time enjoying my life here. Of course, there had to be some troubled time one had to go through. It’s all about perspective: the way you see and think about things. If I had thought that I had been wasting one year with a lot of somebody I didn’t know, something I wasn’t used to, everything would have seemed to be a problem. However, actually, it's not. If you think that there is something good inside everything, you will see it, and that is the way you can manage to get through when life gets tough while you are an exchange student.
Happy time always passes by quickly, after  4 months, I can speak better Chinese and get accustomed to Chinese cultures, foods and people here. Although a lot of questions had been answered , there were many more questions popping up at the same time. Nevertheless, the answer I've sought is yet to come. I think that ‘the answer’ lies in exchanging the attitudes, listening to others’ opinions and including your own. Learn from the different ideas. This will help you grow up, not physically but mentally - the way you see and think about the surroundings and exchange the way you see things to others, absorb good things from them and let the unfavorable pass by. That is how I teach myself and spend my exchange year in China, how I answer myself.
